Ducati Discontinues Monster 821 and Scrambler In India

Ducati India has temporarily discontinued the Monster 821 and Scrambler models due to, a ban on the sales of BS-III vehicles in India. The BS-IV norms came into effect on April 1, 2017, and both the motorcycles’ engine was not compliant with the required emission norms. so the company thought to stop the sales in India and wait till the new stock of BS4 comes.

However, the company will be re-launching the Monster 821 by the end of 2017, while the Scrambler is expected to be available in a couple of months. This is because of the recently launched Ducati Monster 797 which employs the same engine as the Scrambler, an 803 cc L-twin motor is expected to the power the BS-IV complaint Scrambler.

Reports suggest that one of the reasons for the Scrambler to be taken off the product portfolio is to allow Ducati to push the Monster 797 sales aggressively in the market. Currently, the model is the most affordable motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer in India.
